Trick or Treat?

Be sure to keep your pets safe this Halloween….

Ghosts, Goblins, Princesses, Faeries, and Cats and Dogs! Oh My

Remember while Halloween may be fun, it can be scary or dangerous for your pets. Here are a few tips to keep everyone safe this Halloween.

  • If possible keep your cat(s) indoors. Sometimes a prank can go too far, and you don’t want your kitty involved.
  • Keep your dog crated or leashed while kids are trick or treating. All those different costumes can intimidate your dog and he may run away, bark, or even bite if frightened.
  • Make sure your children know not to give any candy to the pets. No matter how much they may beg.
  • Store your candy where no cat or dog can reach them. Candy can smell just as good to them as it does to us, but can make pets very ill if they eat any.
  • If your pet eats candy, call your vet. Many times waiting for symptoms may be waiting until it is too late to help them.
  • Puppy Costumes may be great, but they should only be left on while supervised. Many a strange thing has been taken out of a tummy.

Be sure to be safe and have fun this Halloween, but don’t forget about the special needs of your four legged family members.
